Maybe that isn’t the real saying but for my industry, pictures are important but blogs are more important. It is so often that people don’t understand what I do with websites, search engine optimization. Or they fail to see the need to do SEO or to hire someone who does it, so education to business owners is essential. When someone understands SEO, they can truly understand the necessity to have it.
You wouldn’t think to have a home and not clean it or maintain it would you? Well, the same should go for your website – you need to maintain it! How long you ask…for as long as you have the business and the website, plain and simple! The only reasons I could think of for NOT optimization your website is that you have plenty of business or you only use your website for information – which must be obtained by giving them (and them remembering) your website. Otherwise, you want folks to be able to search and find you.
So what’s the deal with blogs?
In search engine optimization, the value is in keyword rich content, title tags, meta tags and link building. Blogs meet all of those needs – and then some. Check this out:
Blogs have huge value for your biz, if you aren’t blogging, you are missing the boat! Get on it! Click To Tweet- Blogs provide additional keyword rich content on your website for the consumers and the search engines
- When uploading your blog to your website, ideally you should add your title tag and other meta tags at that time that specifically speak to what that blog is about.
- So, while pictures are worth a thousand words, search engines can’t read pictures so be sure to name your pictures and then take advantage of alt tags
- After posting your awesome blog, share it on social media and other social bookmarking sites to help get the word out about your content.
- These are links back to your website – backlinking or inbound links
- Likely you will be talking about something else on your website so use of internal links is ideal
- A bonus is that blogs provide additional content on your website that give you more opportunities to show up in search
- Blogs are also showing that you are an expert in your industry which could ultimately open you up for leads and more business.
Take advantage of your industry and ability to explain what you do for your consumers. There is huge value in blogs for your business, not only for the search engines but for your consumers. After all, if the search engines can’t find you, then likely your consumers can’t either.
If search engines can’t find you, your consumers likely won’t either. Optimize now! Click To TweetIf you aren’t blogging, you are missing out on some great potential to reach consumers, share your knowledge and even share it on social media.

How often do YOU blog, on a regular basis?
~Kristen
I resisted and resisted and now I’m telling others to blog consistently. I’m finally getting the knack of creating an editorial calendar and expanding our lifestyle topics to provide a variety for our readers. Sure we want to sell you our jewelry and I get, not week after week, even if it ties into the content. So I’m stretching myself and liking it most of the time.
I’m so glad that you have gotten out there… I am soooo sure you have reached so many more people since you have! And glad you like it Roz!
Awesome Post! explained perfectly about the Importance of Blogging.

yes, blogging is so important for the consumer AND SEO!
I’m realizing now, as more people tell me, “You know, you’re not easy to find on the internet.” Oh dear, I need SEO and since I am a health & fitness coach, I need to hire.. well you… to get my website noticed and found. Looking forward to meeting with you, I’ve heard so many good things about your work, to discuss my needs and get the baby rolling!
I’m so glad you are getting it too Lisa! So glad that we are going to be working together! 🙂 So glad that others are speaking out about me too! 🙂 Get better, we’ll get there!
When I first started my business, I didn’t blog. I thought I didn’t have anything to say. Well, it turns out I have a lot to say, and I say it through blogging. Thank you for helping me optimize my website!
Glad you have Carol, I think you are finding something you really enjoy doing and it’s helping your business! What what!?
Great article, Kristen, and you are helping as I write here. 🙂 And I agree, I have gotten more traffic and connections by blogging regularly.
Thanks Kat and glad to be helping you! 😉 Blogs give us more visibility and something we can push on social too!
Although I know I am easy to find on the internet, I write about such a wide range of topics, that I am not sure how to reach the people who appreciate my writing style and could use my help writing their message. And of course, I am also doing health and nutrition programs as well, so the challenge being a “multifacetist” is reaching my niche for each of the variety of things I do. I must take a closer look at my keywords and tags, as I don’t usually write specifically with that in mind. Sometimes I am surprised how many times my keyword actually shows up in my post after I’ve chosen it. As I am constantly learning and sharing myself, my focus on Facebook is to share that I am writing for others, so I trust the message will get out and I will attract the perfect clients. Thanks for another great post, Kristen. Always things to think about.
You are easy to find, Bev.. as in your name or your book, or your social, or your website? Where do people usually start when they find you?
I know you have separate pages for the different facets so as long as you are using your meta data for those pages and that target market, you might have better chance… but I can see the struggle. Thanks!
Blogging became a challenge to me when I started over-thinking it. I went back to basic and decided to blog the way I used to when I started my very first blog. I would like to blog 2-3 times a week. For now I am sticking to once a week and aiming at being very consistent with that.
Yes, Webly, I think I dragged on getting started, but like you, I vow to blog 1x a week… so far so good.
That’s very true. A lot of people still don’t realize how helpful having a blog is until they’ve actually tried it.
Yes Elizabeth, there is so much value for our consumers AND the search engines!
I am always mindful of my SEO. Love your tips. They are so helpful. Now I have to work on my frequency. Hard to juggle with all I have to do.
Girl, true me.. you are not alone. Try to do what you can as you are posting your blogs so you don’t have to come back later. Great job Connie! Thanks!
Such great advice. I blog 5-7 days per week.
Holy crap.. how do you have time for anything else Jennifer? lol
Such a great post. I love to reading this and it was really helpful for me. I love to learn a new things for blogging.
Awesome Victoria… glad that you enjoyed it and learned something.
Great tips, I’ve learned over the years how important a blog is to business. I wish I’d named my blog and my Etsy business the same thing, and incorporated them together more in the beginning, instead of trying to figure out how to make them work together now. Articles like this are very helpful, thanks for sharing.
No worries Molly, as things change. Can you buy a new domain name and redirect it to the new one… or use the other name and then redirect your current one? Glad you saw value
I try to blog regularly and am still learning the ropes on SEO. I have more posts that have a “green” light for my SEO than in the past so I feel i am making some progress toward my goals. Thanks for the tips.
The green light is deceiving Mary.. because it will all depend on the Keyword YOU put in the target. So… have a set of focus keywords and the majority of your posts will surround those keywords.
Most businesses don’t understand the value a blog can add to their growth of their company. Your post does a nice job of explaining this. Thanks!
You are so right on Amy.. many don’t see the value and it basically makes their website worth while, it really does. Thanks
I have two website. On one, I post twice a week, once on Tuesday and once on Thursday. On the other, I used to post every day, but my new goal is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so that I can post more quality content and feel less pushed to post every day.
Wow Heather, you do post a lot… it takes me like 2-3 hours each blog/week… how much time are you spending?
