Content is King So Blog It Up

in blog, blogging, search engine optimization on 08/13/14

blogs provide value to your website & consumersMost of us know that content is important in the world of search engine optimization but also to educate and inform our consumers about our products and services.  (As an aside, great content will trump keyword stuffed content any day.)

So, you have your website with whatever number of pages you have explaining all of your products and services.  Take a look at those pages and when you read one page about that specific service, say Pay Per Click advertising, does that page explain every single detail possible about the topic? No, and this is a good thing because you want your consumers to gain enough information about that service; you don’t want to talk over them but give them enough understanding of why they need that service or how it is valuable; and you also want them to call or connect with you to get more information.  Plus, don’t you think that if you explained everything there is to know about PPC on that page, they would glaze over? I know I would.

So what can you do? Well, you aren’t going to change your main pages on a regular basis because you will either lose the content you have there by writing over it, or you would eventually have one really long page, about everything there is to know.  Didn’t we just cover that? LOL

So, a blog is a great way to take one little piece of what you do and expand on it more.  It is a perfect way to explain part of what you do in more detail to your clients or potential clients. Even more is that it is great for the search engines.  You are explaining your service which most likely will have keywords in it and tells the search engines more of what your website is about.  As I said Content is King and content is one of the main criteria in SEO – content, relevancy and competition.  I’ve written more in detail about how blogs can benefit your website and search engine optimization so fee free to check that out.

Thanks for reading, I’d love to hear what you have to say so please feel free to leave a comment. If you need any help with your website as far as search engine optimization, paid advertising or social media marketing, I’d love to help!   ~Kristen

Thanks for the idea to incorporate what I am doing with my content. It’s a great platform the reach out. I get so caught up in the content that I kind of forget the focus of what I really do.

You aren’t alone Patty, we all get caught up in being busy. Take a look at what you do and try to expand on each piece of it. 😉 Thanks!

Every product page communicates what we do visually and descriptively. You got me thinking of some blog topics to reveal more ‘behind the scenes’, talk about the art of bead jewelry, etc. We made a decision when we rebranded to have our home page be an introduction to the rest. I think we succeeded.

I think those are great ideas Rosyln and even more… what makes a peace beautiful to different people, talk about focal points, talk about colors or the color wheel, talk about how pieces can be worn at a wedding or with jeans and a cute top. Oh, and how it makes people feel about themselves as well as how they become conversation pieces. Lots of blog content there for you! 🙂

Yes… don’t forget the h1 and links to other relevant articles/blogs they may want to read on your page. The idea is to keep them there, right!?

Sometimes blogs are too long. Not referring to yours specifically, Kristen, but in general. If you want your content read, keep it short and to the point.

I know what you mean, however, in the research I have done longer blogs get passed around a lot too. So, the way I see it, make it user friendly to scan with white space, maybe even headlines or separate with pictures. If the reader wants to read more, they can or if they want to browse for content and read what they are interested in, they can. That’s the same with page content, keep the most important stuff at the top and on down… but white space is great, visuals are great and etc. Thanks!
