In my industry of internet marketing, we are always talking about – Content is King! It’s quite essential on a website in order to get better rankings. Could you imagine that if there aren’t enough words on the page for you to understand what your business is about, how can we expect the search engines to figure it out enough to return your website when searchers are asking about a topic? Get where I am going with this?
A Common Problem
Lack of content on pages of a website is ever so common. This is typically the place I start when in a consultation for monthly search engine optimization maintenance services or to discuss education for a potential client to Do It Yourself. The website is the basis for SEO, duh right, but I can have the best keywords and plan of attack, but if there aren’t enough words on the website, it just won’t be successful. I’m not about having business owners waste their money on this superb plan for it just not to work. Plus, it affects my efforts negatively – lose-lose!
How to Conquer?
Quite simply – put more content on your website. Each and every page on your website, yes, EVERY page should have several paragraphs of information on it. Even the Contact Us page should have at least a paragraph of information which reminds the consumer, hey, if you have questions about my PPC, social media marketing, want a 1on1 consultation or just want to get started, contact me. Pretty simple, right? Yes, I agree, but many folks don’t think about it or think, it’s kind of redundant, don’t you think?
Why yes, but what if one of the only pages that a potential customer/user or search engine (hint, hint) looks at is one of those – the Contact Us, Resources, Links pages or other “lesser” pages that many of us forget about? Give them every opportunity to link (umm, yes, internal links!) to other pages and peak their interest about one of your other products or services and the like.
Content and SEO
Reminder, content is a very big part of the search engine optimization strategy so having enough content on your website, not to mention a blog, is huge. Now, a blog would only increase the value that you provide to the consumer – but that’s another blog!

Thanks for the excellent reminders. I made notes and will go through my website to see if I have content on every page with internal links.
Excellent Patty! Let me know if you need any assistance!
Thanks for the great tip about content on your contact page. It’s something I never really thought about.
Good, glad to help Heather as content on every page is helpful for SEO on your total website.
Yes!! Not just content, but easily followed/accessible content. Great tips 🙂
Yes, you’ve got that right Holly… not just great content but valuable to the users!
Things have changed since the days when you could just stuff pages with keywords. And I’m so glad. Giving helpful information and tips, etc. is the way to make your website really worthwhile to your ideal clients or customers.
Great article. Content is SO important. Not only is consistent posting of content important but having relevant and valuable content as well.
Thanks Mike!
I’m actually enjoying exploring content I can delive weekly in my blog. Every product has conteent description as does our pages, so for me, it is in the blog.
That’s excellent Rosylyn, glad to hear you are staying on top of things.
I think one of the biggest hurdles people have with their website content is that they write for themselves, not for their audience or for search engines. Super post, my darling. Keep hammering away!
I AGREE… so very true… it’s about writing for the consumers, after all, they are the ones that are buying… but at the same time, being sure the search engines are happy, so that they will find us, to deliver to our consumers. Thanks Jackie, doing my best! 😉
